Joshua & Ava ~ Portrait

Siblings. 5 days old & 5 years old...

Angie contacted me a while back about having photos done of her two little sweethearts. Well, in Ava's case it was a "sweetheart to be" as she was still in Angie's belly! A few months later baby Ava Carol arrived at 9:12am on August 11th 2009, weighing 7lbs 13oz.

As soon as I arrived at their home, Josh ran out to the Jeep and asked if he could help me with anything. At first sight I was in love with his eyes - they are the most beautiful shades of green and brown and sparkled in the sunlight. I told him my name and he explained so matter of factly that his mom had already told him who I was. I knew this little boy was extremely smart, very polite and certainly has a great set of parents that has done good so far! Josh helped me carry some gear into their home and I met the girls.

Angie’s sister made an adorable tutu for Ava. Angie referred to her as a Martha Stewart and I can see why. She also made the AVA sign above Ava’s changing table below. Simple beautiful!

I headed outside with Josh while Ava took a little feeding break. Josh was all smiles and had some really cool hand movements – James Bond style of course with a few winks thrown in! This little guy is going to be quite the heartbreaker someday!

I loved Ava’s polka dot dress – two of my favourite color combos – pink & chocolate :)

A few images of the two of them together. Josh loves his little sister so much. I have no doubt he is going to be the protective big brother and chase away all of her boyfriends someday!

Angie thank you for having me over to capture your little ones. They are both as sweet as can be :)

Betty.

Betty is the sweet lady that greets me at the post office desk. She has a kind face and is always so pleasantly ready with conversational questions for me. It had been a while though. I used to be in almost every other day mailing parcels for my other Business.
When I arrived at the desk tonight she said she hadn't seen me in a while and asked if I was not well? I explained I had been a "different kind of busy" with my photography business. I had closed the dog collar side of Zoe's Collection and left it to be just camera straps only to save myself some time and had hired Carmel, my mother in law, to help with ZC. (By the way, Thank you Carmel, you are doing a fabulous job!)
I told her I had a business card with me, and handed it to her. She took it in her hand and looked at both sides. Then she says, "Can I tell you something? I can tell what you do is something different, something more modern." Why yes, I answered back! That is exactly what I do!

Something different, Something Modern.
It's ironic, because that is what my work is to me and what I try to create for my clients. I hope everyone else feels that too.
Thank you Betty, and I hope if you make it over to my little blog, you know how much your friendliness has been appreciated over the years!

Beverly & Ben ~ Wedding

I met Bev in fall of 2008 when she contacted me regarding wedding photography. She had been given my name from a good friend of mine, Sandra. I still remember the first day we met at Tim Horton's for her consult and a coffee (in my case, the usual Iced Cappuccino which I'm extremely addicted to!). We talked about her big day, and then the conversation led to other things, such as crocheting, dogs, and much more. It wasn't before long that we became friends and meeting up for a chat was a usual thing.

I started the day with the girls at the Amsterdam Inn in Quispamsis. This hotel just went up not to long ago and I am impressed with the lovely but Modern rooms they have to offer.

The bouquets were calla lilies - such a timeless and beautiful choice.

I was stoked when Bev told me she had HOT RED shoes to be married in! How fun!
It wasn't only girls in the room. Bev's son Patrick got to hang out with us as well. Sandi and I had fun putting the finishing touches on Bev’s daughter Amanda’s hair.

Pastor Greg Gray of the Hampton Baptist Church gave a lovely service with a personal touch full of real life advice for the Ben and Bev.

Bev was determined to have the "Fairytale Wedding". With her great love for animals - they also had to be included somehow in her big day. What better way to combine the two than a White Dove Release and a Horse drawn carriage ride? Thanks to Phillip Yang at Wings & Wishes White Doves for these beautiful Doves!

I couldn't resist posting this one. The horse Buddy's face here pretty much sums up his thoughts on holding still for a photo! :)

This is one of my favourites!

Of course I take into account not every set of groomsmen want to jump up and down in their suits. I decided to try my luck on this crowd. Bev's Brother Barry on the end wasn't keen on the idea but gladly stuck his hand up in the air to somewhat mimic the jumping motion? At least I think that was what he was doing. For the record, he did jump the second time ;) Thank you Barry! And Ben, I would give you the prize for most excited look on your face! Priceless!

We let the boys head to the reception - less Ben of course. I asked the girls to hike their dresses up - since Bev was wearing super hot red shoes I though it would be fun. It was!

Since the sun was out mid-afternoon full force, I decided to have some fun with it. I like to try different angles and play with settings. I really love how these turned out!

MORE red shoes! Can you tell I'm in love? How many times do I get to shoot red shoes at a wedding? Uh, never?

So romantic ...

When Bev laughs, her nose crinkles up, just like this. I love these shots.

More shoe fun and then we headed over to the reception for a quick visit.

I took a few photos of the cake before I left. How beautiful is this? Thanks to Sharon Hoyt for her talent on creating this masterpiece! One of my fav's for sure!

They had a few special visitors to their wedding, one being a milestone age of 90 years old! I had the two little ladies give Ben some love for a photo!

To my friends Bev and Ben, I hope your wedding day was all you dreamed of and more. I wish you all the best in the future and many more fairytale endings ;)

Perfect Presentation

Goodbye boring envelopes, hello pretty presentation boxes!
I am a visual person so I love packaging. I think that the package my photos are presented to my clients in is almost as important as the images themselves. I chose a leatherette textured box adorned with a wide chocolate satin ribbon and finished with my logo in the bottom right hand corner. And…. The ribbon is easy to slip off so you can easily slide it back on when you are done looking at your photos to keep them pretty until you are ready to frame them.

Nicole & Tim ~ Wedding

Friday I had the pleasure of being a part of Nicole and Tim's day as they were joined in marriage.
Nicole is a school teacher and Tim is a huge baseball fan. They make a sweet couple and its cute how you can instantly tell Tim is the comedian in the relationship! I heard many stories about his side of the family during the night and I'm sure his upbringing was nothing less than fun and a barrel of laughs!
I just LOVE Weddings. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to capture one of the most important days in a couple's life.
I started out the afternoon by meeting up with the girls at Nicole's mother’s house which conveniently was just around the corner from mine. When I arrived, everyone was having fun putting on their final touches.
I love being creative with what is around me, and using interesting elements as much as I can. Nicole's mother had lots of beautiful furniture for me to use for some detail shots. I just love this piece; it makes Nicole's jewellery and shoes just pop!

The lines and colors in this chair are stunning against the white bouquet. The bouquets had Calla lilies and a touch of lavender, so beautiful and elegant.

Nicole has that "girl next door" beauty ... I knew she would look amazing in any dress she chose. This one is fabulous and suits a summer wedding with a touch of modern elegance.

What stunning bridesmaids these ladies are! The girls relaxed with a glass of wine while getting ready and then we headed outside for a little fun before heading to the church. They had bought umbrellas in case of rain but it was quite exciting when we realized they matched the dresses perfectly! Even without the rain, what a fun prop ~ Thank you ladies!

When I have my subjects in a certain position I like to change the angle a bit and see what I can get. I love this one of the girls backs to me. Then the beautiful bride and her parents. Nicole's mom is adorable and her father was smiling throughout the whole day, it was so cute.

As Nicole walked down the isle, the light from the doorway behind her created a stunning glow. The ceremony was full of laughs, smiles and beautiful words.

A few detailed shots during the ceremony and then of course, the first kiss - so passionate!

After the ceremony was over, we headed over to the New Brunswick Museum for portraits. This location has everything for a perfect location, stunning unique architecture, and a beautiful park right next to it. Some fun with their parents.

We started out at the top of the stairs but quickly learned that the pigeons resting above had a mind of their own and poor Ashlee had the unfortunate luck of catching some droppings on her dress! Oh my - It's a good thing everyone has a sense of humour!

Some fun with the purple umbrellas!

Nicole & her new groom took a rest on the bench - heels unfortunately are not an ideal walking shoe! I love
these images though.

The sun was setting beautifully on the side of the museum and made for some fantastic light.

Off to the Fort Howe Hotel for the reception and dance. Tried out some cute chairs in the lobby before heading up for their reveal as Mr & Mrs.

The decor and details were simple and elegant. The cake was topped with white roses and lavender. Candles and
silver confetti topped the tables creating a romantic ambiance.

The bouquet and garter toss had so much enthusiasm! As you can see we had many singles eager to catch the prize! :)

Nicole and Tim, thank you for having me capture your special moments and I hope you enjoyed your day. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and no doubt, lots of laughter ;)
